About Robert W. Brady, Jr. – Epic Fantasy & Science Fantasy Author
Robert W. Brady, Jr. is the creator of The Fovean Chronicles, an acclaimed epic fantasy and science fantasy series known for its gritty realism, deep world-building, and morally complex characters. His work blends military fantasy, dark mythology, and historical fiction, making his novels a compelling read for fans of immersive series fiction and character-driven sagas.
From Real-World Grit to Fantastical Worlds
Born in Connecticut in 1964, Brady graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1986. He held a variety of jobs—construction worker, infant swim instructor, bartender, waiter, secretary, security guard, dry cleaning store manager, and model—while attending college. It was during this time he began writing the first draft of what would become The Fovean Chronicles.
After briefly working in the insurance industry as an Assistant Annuities Analyst, Brady enlisted in the U.S. Navy Nuclear Power Program in 1987. He served honorably until 1994, earning multiple commendations including the Navy Achievement Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and Southeast Asia Service Medal during the Gulf War. He served aboard the USS Truxtun (CGN-35) and the USS Cape Cod (AD-43), and was certified as a Reactor Operator, Radiological Controls Shift Supervisor, and Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, ultimately achieving the rank of Petty Officer First Class.
Life After Service – From Code to Chronicles
Following his military service, Brady explored careers in sales, pest control, automotive repair, and .NET programming. He founded a successful software company, later selling it to return to his true passion: writing epic fiction. His unique blend of military experience and storytelling lends authenticity and depth to the battle-driven, high-stakes narratives in his novels.
Personal Life & Passions
A dedicated animal rescuer, Brady shares his life with two dogs, a cat, and several horses—all of whom he personally rescued and rehabilitated. He is a proud father of two, Billy and Jennifer, and grandfather to two boys. Remarkably, he and both of his children were born on the same day of different months. His son Billy also served in the Navy, continuing the family tradition.
Although born in Connecticut, Brady has lived in Orlando, FL; Bremerton, WA; San Diego, CA; and spent fourteen years in Florida. He now resides in the hills of East Tennessee, where he continues to write, explore, and build the richly imagined world of Fovea.
